From New York to Tokyo via San Francisco or Paris, on homes, mailboxes, the fronts of shops or doors of homes, Krink has not gone unnoticed.
Craig Costello, aka KR, commence le tag assez tard, vers 17 ans après avoir longtemps suivi son frère ainé dans ses sessions graff.
Originaire du Queens, il décide de s’exiler à San Francisco pour développer son art. Il y intègre un école d’art où il y étudie l’histoire de l’art et les différentes techniques.
Sa spécialité : l’art des drips, cette technique qui consiste à créer de grosses coulure, ultra sexy, avec un marqueur ou un énorme extincteur de 8L.
C’est grâce à une encre personnelle qu’il arrive à ce résultat. En effet, quand il a commencé à graffer, Craig Costello avait un soucis : « La plupart des marqueurs n’étaient pas efficaces sur les murs sales et rugueux. J’ai testé beaucoup de formules différentes et j’en suis arrivé à un mélange composé d’éléments naturels et bios ». Il a donc décidé de créer sa propre encre.
A San Francisco, c’est l’explosion, le style Krink recouvre les murs des maisons, les boites aux lettres …, et il décida de repartir à New York pour répandre son oeuvre. Il taggait moins mais promouvait son matos auprès de jeunes taggeurs. Le style Krink a commencé à se rependre dans le Lower East Side.
Très rapidement une collaboration avec le shop Alife se monta, pour vendre ses produits. C’est le début des séries limitées, des collaborations marketing …
